Comet

Hallry's Comet was named after the astronomer. Edmond Halley, a friend of Isaac Newton. It was Edmond Halley who discovered that a particular comet would reappear once in about 76 years. To honour his accurate prediction about the reappearance of the comet, scientists named the comet after him.

The tail of the comet can only be seen when it is near the sun. When the sunlight and solar wind hit the gas particles in the comet, a tail is formed.

A comet consists of three parts; a nucleus, coma and tail. The nucleus of a comet is composed of rocks, dust, ice and frozen gases. The streams of dust that form a huge cloud around the nucleus called a coma. The luminous mist that extends from the coma is the tail of the comet.

Tongue

We use our tongue to taste food. The tongue is covered with taste buds. Taste buds help us to identify different taste. When the taste buds come into contact with certain food, they send a message to the brain through the nerves. Then the brain identifies the taste.

There are four main types of taste buds on the surface of the tongue.They are spread out on the tongue to differentiate tastes such as sweet, bitter, sour and salty.

Babies have excellent and sensitive taste buds whereas grown-ups have less sensitive taste buds. That is why it is difficult to make children take medicine. Grown-ups find it easier to take bitter medicine compared to children.
